There’s something magical about proposals in the desert—especially when it’s under one of the most iconic landmarks in the Southwest: Delicate Arch.

Samantha reached out a few months before her trip to Moab with one goal in mind: to propose to Andrea under the arch without her having a clue it was coming. If you’ve ever been to Arches National Park, you know Delicate Arch isn’t exactly lowkey—it’s one of the most visited spots in Utah. So we put our heads together and came up with a plan that kept the surprise intact.

When the moment came, they walked out for what Andrea thought was just a photo under the arch. The wind was absolutely howling—pretty typical for spring in the desert—but nothing was going to stop Samantha. She got down on one knee, and Andrea said yes!

It was such an honor to capture their joy and emotion with the epic red rock landscape all around us. We explored a few more spots for portraits after the proposal, and despite the wind doing its best to blow us off the rocks, these two rolled with it like champs.
