Rocky Mountain Engagement | Estes Park, Colorado Photographer
If you’re dreaming of an engagement session (or elopement) surrounded by the dramatic peaks of the Rockies, you’re in the right place.
When these two reached out about booking a session in Rocky Mountain National Park, I was immediately in. Not just because RMNP is one of the most breathtaking backdrops in Colorado, but because they wanted to bring their dogs along — which, for me, always makes a shoot better.
We started in a wide open meadow where the mountains really show off, and golden hour did not disappoint. One of my favorite moments was when Eric decided to recreate the Lion King pose and held their little pup up on a boulder with the most perfect light streaming through. Simple, candid moments like that always end up being my favorites — the kind that feel like you, not just poses.
After wrapping up in the meadow, we made our way up to Bear Lake. By the time we arrived, the sun had dipped behind the mountains and blue hour had settled in — that soft, even light that feels calm and cinematic. The lake was still, and the cool tones brought a completely different vibe to the session — more moody, intimate, and timeless. It was the perfect contrast to the golden tones we’d captured earlier.
If you’re considering doing an engagement session (or even eloping!) in Rocky Mountain National Park, just keep in mind:
Whether you’re bringing your dogs or just want a backdrop that makes your photos feel larger than life, RMNP delivers every time. Having lived in Estes Park, I’m very familiar with the area and know the spots that work best for light, privacy, and variety — whether you’re up for a full hike or prefer to stick to scenic pull-offs.
